Edward Asa "Ed" Emery, Jr.

Funeral services for Edward Asa “Ed” Emery, Jr., 88, of Tulsa, were held Monday, March 4, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Pastor Scott Carlson officiated, and burial was in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were Ace Emery, Joe Emery, Nick Emery, Bryce Maye, Jake Maye and Rusty Brown.

Ed was born November 10, 1930 in Black Dog Township, OK to Edward Asa Sr. and Mamie B. (Crain) Emery. He passed away February 27, 2019 in Tulsa, OK.

Ed married Fern Eugene York on August 18, 1953 in Sand Springs, OK. They were married for 55 years before Fern's death in 2008. Ed and Fern had five children, Becky, Floyd, Billy, Glen and Dona. He served in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood. After Ed’s discharge from the Army, he was employed by Bud Smoot Oil Well Service. In 1958, Ed started and operated Osage Well Service with a business partner. In 1974, he started and operated Ed Emery Oil Well Servicing which he owned until his death. Ed was a lifelong supporter of Osage County 4-H Clubs. He loved a good mess of BBQ ribs and always had a small dog by his side at home.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca S. “Becky” Jandebeur and husband, Alan of Tulsa and Dona Lisa Maye of Skiatook; sons, Floyd E. Emery and wife, Dorise of Sperry; William F. “Billy” Emery and wife, Kathy of Wagoner, and Glen R. Emery and wife, Lynn of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse L. Emery and wife, Donna of Sperry, and Derrel L. Emery of Tulsa; sister, Lorna R. McKerley of Sperry; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern E. Emery; grandson, Adam D. Jandebeur; parents, Edward Sr. and Mamie Emery; and sister, Helen Holcomb.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
