Funeral services for William James “Jim” Turner, of Sperry, were held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, OK. Reverend Jerry Harper and Reverend Jay Bean officiated and a private family interment followed.
Jim was born January 24, 1956 in Yuma, AZ to Schuyler and Eleanor Mae (Anderson) Turner. He passed away February 20, 2013 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 57.
Jim was a devoted Christian, son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandpa and friend. He worked as a paint and body technician and machinist for many years. Jim was also the vice-president of an association of auto body clubs and a handyman. Jim was a jokester and ornery, but was also known as a gentle giant who was generous, unselfish and as “Dad” to many others. Jim was an OSU fan, and a karaoke superstar at the Sperry Café, his home away from home.
He is survived by his children, Ginger Lovan and husband Jason, Candy Kerns and husband Eric, Susan Coghill and husband Michael, and Bryan Turner and wife Samantha; grandchildren, Katie Graham, Cora Lovan, Emma Lovan, Brayden Lovan, Brianna Kerns, Hailey Kerns, Justin Coghill, and Luke Turner; sisters, Carol Smith and husband Kerry, and Nancy Matlock and husband Matt, brother Bill Turner; mother, Eleanor Turner; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Turner; sister, Connie Turner; brother, Sky Wayne, Douglas Turner, and Roger Turner; and father, Schuyler Turner.
