Funeral Services for William Mack Pennington, 90, of Claremore, were held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Phillip Smith officiated and burial was in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. Casket Bearers were Mack Pennington, Danny Pennington, Buddy Hovind, Jason Pennington, John Leger, David Hamilton, Joe Biddle, and Blake Biddle. Honorary Casket Bearer was Mark West. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Mack was born January 28, 1924 in Aurora, AR to Charlie and Della (Hull) Pennington. He passed away July 26, 2014 in Claremore, OK.
Mack was a master brick mason. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, IOOF Odd Fellows Owasso Lodge # 290, Chelsea Lodge 81, Turley Lodge 28 and the American Legion Post in Collinsville. Mack was a founding member, Past President and Vice-President of the Owasso Round-Up Club. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting, horseback riding, and going to rodeos. Mack also loved spending time with his family and friends, and teaching and playing checkers and dominoes with his kids, grandkids and other family. We’re all pretty sure that he taught the kids and grandkids how to cheat at checkers and dominoes.
He is survived by his children, Robert Pennington and wife Suzan of Broken Arrow, OK; Billy Pennington and wife Linda of Claremore, OK; Carole Leger and husband Larry of Owasso, OK, Roy Pennington and wife Renee of West Fork, AR; and Raymond Pennington of Oologah, OK; grandchildren, Angela McGinnis and husband John; Ruth Brakefield, Jennifer Hamilton and husband David, Mack Pennington and wife Kristin, Luke Pennington, Sandy Biddle, Danny Pennington and wife Danielle, Buddy Hovind and wife Angela, John Leger and fiancée’ Kristin, Jason Pennington and Sherri, April Pennington and Matt; Chelsie Trammell and husband Brad, Brian Hough and wife LeighAnn, and Eric Beu; 26 great-grandchildren, brother, Leon Pennington; sister, Elva Secrist; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ruth Pennington; sons, Jimmy Lee Pennington and Tommy Gene Pennington; grandson, Jimmy Don Pennington; parents, Charlie and Della Pennington; brothers, Olen Pennington, Hubert Pennington, and Charles Pennington; sisters, Esther Edens, Juanita Brannon, Dorothy Keck, and Erline Bartholemew.
