Funeral Services for William Junior “Bill” Dubwig, 89, of Collinsville, were held Friday, September 27, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, OK. Dr. Tim Prock officiated and burial was in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK. Casket Bearers were Dean Collins, Richard Haworth, Justin Dubwig, Mike Reid, Mark Barton, and Gary Myskey. Honorary Casket Bearers were Jason Dubwig, Jerry Black, Curtis Spence, and Burl Wilbanks.
Bill was born September 3, 1924 in Mountain View, MO to Sophus and Mae (Thomas) Dubwig. He passed away September 24, 2013 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Bill was raised in Mountain View, MO and attended school there. He began working at the age of 12. For a half dollar and a free dinner Bill would perform any farm task asked of him. Bill met Betty and they eloped to Olathe, KS and were married on July 15, 1944. They just celebrated the 69th wedding anniversary in July. After they were married, some of Bill’s work included driving a truck delivering for a wholesale grocer. He was also self-employed as a lumber hauler, and while living in Minneapolis worked as a mechanic for a large company. Bill began working for UPS in December 1976. He was a mechanic/maintenance employee. There were several articles written about him in the UPS monthly magazine. All of the articles were about Bill’s work ethic. He was awarded a plaque in 1984 for recognition of seven years without absenteeism or tardiness. Bill worked for UPS for 12 years without missing a day of work before retiring in December 1988. After retiring, Bill and Betty moved to Grand Lake where they lived for 15 years. During that time, they enjoyed traveling the US in their RV with friends. Bill attended Vo-Tech to learn wood making. He made curio cabinets and other various wood items for family and friends. They enjoyed going to Texas in the winter time. They moved to their current home in Collinsville about 8 years ago and have been members of the First Baptist Church there ever since.
He is survived by his wife Betty Dubwig of the home; daughter Roxy Linn and husband Larry of Aitkin, MN; son, Richard Dubwig and wife Diana of Collinsville; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxine Butler and Olive Warden.
