William Franklin “Bill” Butler, age 77, of Sperry, OK was born on June 30, 1947, in Pawhuska, OK, to Walter Hilbert “Bert” Butler and Marie Virginia (McIntire) Butler. He passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, OK. Bill led a remarkable and fulfilling life, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, where he demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to his service. Following his military career, Bill transitioned into a successful profession as a dedicated salesman, utilizing his exceptional people skills and work ethic to excel in his field. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bill was deeply involved in his community, serving as the beloved mayor of Sperry, OK, for eight years. He was a passionate advocate for the betterment of his community and worked tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of those around him. Bill's love for sports and youth development led him to volunteer as a devoted little league coach, where he impacted the lives of countless young athletes. His guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support inspired many to strive for excellence both on and off the field. Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Bill cherished his roles as a loving husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather, and adoring great-grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with his loved ones. In his free time, Bill enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, and endless stories, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Bill's legacy of kindness, integrity, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community.

A celebration of Bill's life will be planned for late fall. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming weeks.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Paula Butler of Sperry; children, Tom Butler and wife, Jody, of Checotah, Matt Butler and Nicki Suter of Sperry; Amy Barnes and husband, Jared, of Collinsville, and Ashley Butler and Jimmy Boyd, of Sperry; grandchildren, Chase Butler, Brooke Butler, Brock Butler, Summer Butler, Ava Butler, Halle Smith and husband, Cody, Paine Suter, Price Suter, Hayden Barnes, Reese Barnes, Hunter Butler, and Lexie DelGrosso; great-grandchildren, Laylah Bender; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Marie Butler; brother, Walter Butler; and sister, Linda (Butler) Blankenship.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to the Claremore Veterans Center, 3001 W. Blue Starr Dr., Claremore, OK 74017.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
