Memorial services for Wesley Kyle Chenault, of Tulsa, were held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Christ’s Church of Owasso in Owasso, OK.
Kyle was born December 12, 1927 in Tulsa, OK to Charles Bruce and Clara (Morgan) Chenault. He passed away March 21, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 84.
Kyle, known to some as Curley, attended school in Tulsa and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Tulsa, where he met and married Velda Jo Riley on August 9, 1948. Kyle and Velda settled in Turley and raised three children. Many people knew Kyle as a one of the best heavy equipment operators they had ever met. Kyle was a pipeliner and worked in many states and some foreign countries. Kyle spent time in Alaska (on the Alaska pipeline) and in Spain and Saudi Arabia. In later years he owned his own backhoe business. Kyle was an animal lover and it did not matter if the animal was wild or tame. In recent years, Kyle was seldom seen without his dogs. He could fix most anything with a hammer, a screwdriver and some bailing wire. Kyle rarely admitted that anything was “broke”. He was known as a hard worker and believed in his ability to complete any chore. Kyle is remembered for his dry sense of humor and his acceptance of people for who they are. He attended Anchor Baptist Church in Turley and loved to discuss the Bible and Biblical questions.
Kyle is survived by his three children, Sandy (Chenault) Payne of Ponca City, Russell “Rusty” Chenault of Turley and Floyd “Buster” Chenault of Turley; five grandchildren, L. A. Taylor of Tulsa, Cindi Gormly of Okemah, Casey Chenault, Jamie Chenault, and Jessica Chenault all of Tulsa; three great-grandchildren, Dakota Gormly, Taylor Gormly and Montana Gormly all of Okemah; great-great grandson, Gage Michael Gormly of Okemah; brother, Harold Chenault of Hemet, CA, many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Velda Jo, parents, Charles and Clara Chenault; six siblings, Bruce Chenault, June (Chenault) Brown, Raymond Chenault, George Chenault, Hank Chenault, Clara Mildred (Chenault) Vichare; and granddaughter, Sabrina Ann Chenault.
