Graveside services for Walter Frank “Tim” Mead, 55, of Skiatook, were held Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Reverend Lynda Ward. Casket bearers were Troy Mead, Kenneth Canady, Roy Mead, David Wayne Mead, and Kenneth Mead. Honorary casket bearers were John Boy Canady, Donald David Canady, Billy Mitchell; and Kurk McKinnley.
Tim was born May 20, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter R. and Thelma J. (Claxton) Mead. He passed away May 29, 2015 in Skiatook, OK.
Tim was employed as a machinist in a machine shop until he was diagnosed with cancer. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and watching old movies. He loved his mountain dew, banana splits, and pineapple upside down cake. Tim battled cancer for four years and spent his last six months living with and being cared for by his brother and sister, Troy and Cindy so that he could pass away at home surrounded by family. He will be missed.
He is survived by his brothers, Troy Mead, Roy Mead, David Mead, and Kenneth Mead and wife Randa all of Skiatook; sisters, Cindy Canady and husband Kenneth of Skiatook, and Jean Almy of Cleveland, 17 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and great-nephews; parents, Walter and Thelma Mead of Skiatook; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his aunt Betty Claxton; uncles, Bill Claxton and wife Helen, Doug Claxton and wife Doretha, and Fred Claxton; nephew, Kenny Canady; cousin, Elizabeth “Shorty” Claxton, and Grandpa and Grandma Claxton.
