Memorial services for Vonna Louise Simpson, of Eufaula, were held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Chet Veazey officiated and burial was in Welty Cemetery in Welty, OK. Honorary casket bearers were Curtis Dean Simpson, Cody Lee Armstrong, Lacey Darshel Simpson and Chelsea Chesquena Simpson.

Vonna was born November 25, 1947 in Childress, TX to Carl and Colleen (Richardson) Crow. She passed away August 22, 2011 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 63.

Vonna worked as a genealogist and historian for the Pittsburg County Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and volunteer worked. She liked FarmTown on Facebook, reading, and doing research. Vonna loved being a mother and grandmother. She lived a simple, but meaningful life. She always put others first, especially her children and grandchildren. Vonna was the family anchor and never complained about stress or worries. She made living seem easy and life not so difficult. Vonna is amazing and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Curtis Dean Simpson of Tulsa, and Leslie Jean Simpson of Tulsa; grandchildren, Lacey Darshel Simpson, Chelsea C. Simpson, Matthew Daniel Simpson, and Joshua Shane Simpson, all of Tulsa; mother, Mary Colleen Crow of Clarendon, TX; brother, Roger Murphy of Clarendon, TX; sister, Mary Murphy of Edmond, OK; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ray Simpson; and father, John Murphy.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
