Funeral services for Virginia Lou “Sis” (Lasater) Chailer, 86, of Sand Springs, OK, were held Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson officiated. Casket bearers were Caleb Washington, Terry Hard, Cayle Chisum, Mike Taylor, Steven Jennings, and Russell Sellers. Honorary Casket bearers were Bryson Chailer, Kenny Kennedy, Richard Ash, Terry Martin, and Gary Martin.
Virginia, lovingly known by everyone as “Sis”, was born October 17, 1937, in Scranton, AR, to Merrill M. Lasater, and Virgie Ann (Moore) Lasater. She passed away July 14, 2024, in Tulsa, OK.
Sis moved to Tulsa in 1953, and she married Isaac Chailer on December 3, 1954. They had been married for 64 years. From this union, three children were born., Kathy, Monty and Alisa. From 1975 to 1988 she was employed at Pennwell Printing as a machine operator in the bindery department. During her lifetime, Viriginia enjoyed being a seamstress, working in her garden, going crappie fishing, and traveling. She was also known to be an amazing cook. If you’ve ever eaten at Sis’ table, then you know what that means. Sis was an avid conversationalist, and a huge Jeopardy fan. Although, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family and friends, and especially seeing her grandbabies.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Chailer) Walker of Sand Springs; son, Monty Chailer and partner, Miranda Chambers of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Amee Jennings and husband, Steven of Keller, TX, Channing Chisum and husband Cayle of Collinsville. Bryson Chailer of Emory, TX, Claire Chailer of Sunset, LA, and Brittnee Chailer of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Caleb Worthington and wife, Kaylin of Sand Springs; Ashtyn Jennings of Keller, TX, and Avery Jennings, of Keller, TX; great-great-grandchildren, Kynsley Worthington, of Sand Springs, Laney Worthington of Sand Springs, and Asher Worthington of Sand Springs; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Chailer; daughter, Alisa Knight and husband, Garry; great-granddaughter, Addysen Jennings; parents, Merrill and Virgie Lasater; and brothers, Marvin Lasater, and Bob Lasater.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
