Funeral services for Virgil Leroy Chisholm, 88, of Sperry, were Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 in the Johnson funeral Home chapel in Sperry. The Rev. Chet Veasey officiated, and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Sperry, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry.
Pallbearers were Rob Miller, Elmer Alexander, Jerry Alexander, Patrick Weaver and Bryan Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Chisholm, Cleo Maddox, Leonard McCauley and Jack Alexander.
He was born on May 17, 1919 in Sperry to Webster and Pearl (Archer) Chisholm. He died on Feb. 15, 2008.
He worked as a pipe liner, truck driver, farmer and as a groundskeeper for Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry. He enjoyed dogs and farm animals. He liked to go fishing. He enjoyed listening to gospel music.
He is survived by his daughters, Juanita (Chisholm) and husband John Timmers of Tulsa, and Linda (Chisholm) and husband John Hogin of Oklahoma City; son, Larry Chisholm of Wichita, Kans.; two grandsons; five granddaughters; the Alexander family; caregiver of 20 years, Patsy Peavy of Sperry; many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; parents, Webster and Pearl Chisholm; sister, Beatric and Christine Alexanda; and brother-in-law, Michael Rowlings. Family and friends can sign the guestbook at www.johnsonfhsperry.com.
