Graveside services for Vertilene Gay Maha, of Tulsa, were held Friday, June 8, 2012 at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, OK. Reverend Harry Anderson officiated.
Vertilene was born August 7, 1955 in Deadwood, SD to James and Rebecca (Ironhawk) Albert. She passed away June 6, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 56.
Vertilene worked for Sperry Public Schools for 30 years as a Special Education teacher and Director of Special Services. She loved her daughters and granddaughters with all her heart. She was a member of the Creek and Lakota Indian Tribes. Vertilene enjoyed gardening, working with her students, and spending time with her family, her loveable pooch “Ripster” and margaritas with her friends. She was a huge OU fan.
She is survived by her daughters, Alyce McPhaul and husband Jason, and Lizzie Murphy; granddaughter, Zoey McPhaul; parents, Jim and Becky Albert; brother, Derek Albert; sister, Mozella Albert, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by Bertram Maha, Jr., father of Alyce and Lizzie.
