Vernon R. Vossler was born on April 28, 1927 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to Vernon Martense Vossler and Freida Bachman.
He passed away on March 12, 2008.
He began his military career in the United States Navy during World War II as a "tin can" sailor aboard the USS Watts. After returning to finish high school he reenlisted in the United States Air Force serving time in Japan, Korea and while serving in Vietnam he was awarded a bronze star.
He retired a Senior Master Sergeant as an aircraft mechanic.
He retired from the City of Tulsa as a waste water treatment operator.
He was an active member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, and American Philatical Society. He enjoyed putting together N scale trains and stamp collecting.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria Smith and husband Mike of Sperry; sons, Christopher Vossler and wife Kymberly of Jennings, Stephen Vossler and wife Nicole of San Diego, Calif., and Mark Vossler of Broken Arrow; granddaughters, Aundraya Conner, Emma Gilpin, Olivia Vossler and Rachel Vossler; grandsons, Jacob Conner and Daniel Vossler; brother, John and wife Bettijean of Connecticut; nieces, Karen Vossler of Covington, KY., and Susan Vossler of Covington, KY.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Olivia M. Robitaille, son, Charles Paul Vossler; and parents, Vernon M. Vossler and Freida Bachman. Services and arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry. Family and friends can sign the guestbook at www.johnsonfhsperry.com.
