Memorial services for Vernon Dale Payton, 65, of Inola, were held Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Tulsa Spoken Word Tabernacle in Tulsa, OK. Reverend Jason Musgrove and Reverend Wilner Laguerre officiated.
Vernon was born September 16, 1952 in Benton, AR to Waldo Emerson and Bettie Louise (Brooks) Cearley. He passed away March 8, 2018 in Collinsville, OK.
Vernon was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for Cintas and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts as a delivery driver. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing, flyfishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He loved taking vacations to the Rockies and the Ozarks. Vernon was a very faithful and spiritual person and was actively involved with his church, Tulsa Spoken Word Tabernacle.
He is survived by his son, Justin Payton and fiancée, Allison Quinn of Inola; brother, Joe Payton and wife Brenda Kay of Owasso; sister, Wanda Baker and husband James of Skiatook; nieces, Mary Baker and Ivan Creath of Skiatook, and Brenda O’Banion and husband Mike of Oologah; nephews, Rodny Payton of Hominy and Rocky Payton and wife Casi of Owasso; father, Stan Cearley of Beggs; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettie Cearley.
