Funeral services for Vera W. (Willard) Weddle, of Sperry, were held Friday, January 18, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Linda Kennedy officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Kaleb Corley, Cori Madding, Josh Corley, Hunter Williamson, Katie Corley, Gabe Hill, and Nick Corley.
Vera was born March 7, 1919 in Lamar County, Texas to John H. and Lula C. (Wear) Willard. She passed away January 15, 2013 in Sperry, OK at the age of 93.
Vera was a homemaker who enjoyed travel, gardening and baking. She loved sharing stories of all the wondrous places she encountered during her many travels. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was an avid gardener who never met a flower or plant she didn’t love. Vera had a passion for baking and was known to her family as the official baker of birthday cakes. She was never happier than when doing for family or friends. She was known by many and loved by all; she will truly be missed.
She is survived by her brother, Hubert Willard and wife Shirley of Sperry; son, John Hensley of Avant; daughter, Emily Mildred Corley and husband Gary of Sperry; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Weddle; son, Paul Hensley; granddaughter, Julie Hensley; parents, John and Lula Willard; and five siblings.
