Tom Landen Holcomb

Graveside Memorial Services for Tommy Landen “Tom” Holcomb, 77, of Tulsa, were held Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Charles Rowden officiated. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Tom was born August 6, 1936 in Sperry, OK to Deward Carter and Capitola (Schoonover) Holcomb. He passed away July 10, 2014 in Tulsa, OK.

Tom was born on the hottest day on record for Sperry. He was the fourth of eight children. In high school, Tom was the captain of the football team and graduated from Sperry High School in 1955. He received a football scholarship at Bacone College in Muskogee. Tom was an Alumnus of the University of Tulsa. He served in the Army with the OK National Guard, 45th Division. Tom retired from Rockwell International after 30 years of service. During that time, he worked as a Procurement Scheduler and was later promoted to a Material Requirements Manager. Tom was an active member of The North American Aviation Club of Tulsa. His major accomplishment was building by hand the big log home with the help of his dad and family on Beaver Lake; and it was a labor of love for him. Tom enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, and anything about the Oklahoma Sooners. He was well liked by all who knew him; Tom could be very philosophical and had a “live and let live” philosophy.

He is survived by his sons, Randy Holcomb and wife Charm of Skiatook, Rick Holcomb and wife Sheila of Sperry; step-son, Bill Scott; grandchildren, Tabatha Barnes and husband Terry, and Steven Holcomb; great-grandchild, Madyson Barnes; brothers, Curtis Holcomb and wife Jean, Allan Holcomb and wife Diane, and Pat Holcomb; sisters, Nan Mullins and husband Orin, and Karen Doney; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Deward and Capitola Holcomb; and brothers, Calvin Holcomb and Milfred Holcomb.
