Timmy R. Strickland was born February 1, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Franklin Ray and Glenda Strickland.
He passed away August 17, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Timmy grew up in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area for most of his life. He was mentally disabled since birth, functioning at a (3) year old mentality. He attended special education classes from the age of 3 years to 21 years of age. Then, he worked in special education workshops in various facilities.
His family life growing up as a kid included being active in attending church. He loved to hold his own music hymnal during the services. He would even applaud family members at church who had performed singing a solo, telling them out loud “good job, good job”. Timmy was joyful!
He also learned to operate and ride a unique (3) wheel bicycle, (one specially made by his Dad). Timmy often put it up on rocks to pretend to work on it like a car. He spent a lot of energy and time moving things around and especially loved U-Haul trucks. Timmy really loved our green, family Volkswagen bus. He loved all kinds of foods and ate heartily. Timmy was a morning person and smiled often. He adored small children and was the gentlest soul with them.
Later in life, Timmy loved to be outdoors at the park, feeding the ducks and squirrels, going to feed stores and enjoyed dancing.
Those of us who were privileged to have known and loved him were certainly the ones blessed. Our family finds comfort knowing that he has been freed from all of his disabilities and is now whole with Jesus.
