Sylvia Yvonne Ford

Memorial services for Sylvia Yvonne (Silkey) Ford, 82, of Sand Springs, OK, were held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phillip Johnson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Honorary casket bearers were Gary Chris Collier, Michael Todd Collier, and Corey Brett Thompson.

Sylvia was born March 18, 1940, in Tulsa, OK, to Robert Cloyd and Marguerite Yvonne (Alexander) Slkey. She passed away April 19, 2022, in Sand Springs, OK.

Sylvia attended Lowell Elementary and went on to graduate from Will Rogers High School. She later married and raised her family in the Tulsa area. Sylvia worked for Nelson Electric for 14 years, then went on to work for Murphy Switch for 10 years, and after an early retirement, she became a caregiver for several families in the Tulsa area for 15 years.

Sylvia enjoyed canning, playing bingo, and her trips to Branson. She loved to cook for her family, especially during the holidays, and always loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. The past 14 years were spent at her home in the country north of Sand Springs, where she loved sitting on her front porch with her cup of coffee listening to her wind chimes and watching the wild birds on her bird feeders.

Yvonne loved her family and was loved by many. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly McGinnis of Sand Springs, sons, Gary Collier of Tulsa, Michael Collier of Catoosa, and Corey Thompson of Sand Springs; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and lifelong friend, John Bradford of Skiatook; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Cloyd and Marguerite Silkey; and sister, Sandra Bradford.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
