Private Graveside services for Susie Fern (Meeks) Hampton, 92, of Sperry, were held August 6, 2013 at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Mr. Phillip Johnson officiated.
Susie was born February 14, 1921 in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Christine Dee (Tyner) and Henry Meeks. She passed away August 4, 2013 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 92.
She was a housekeeper and babysitter. She worked as a waitress, telephone operator at Bell Telephone Company and Brown Duncan, an assembler at Telex, a custodian at Getty Oil, and a seamstress. She worked for Tulsa County as a microfilm processor and for the election board. She enjoyed quilting and cross stitching. She was a world traveler and loved seeing new places. She loved canning the produce from her own garden. She was the best cook ever especially the family favorites that included her biscuits, lemon meringue pie, and spaghetti with meatballs.
She is survived by her daughters, Tommie Sue Hampton of Sperry, and Sonya Helen Hampton of Cleveland; son-in-law, Jack R. Padgett of Cleveland; grandson, Christopher Scott Padgett of Cleveland,; granddaughter, Susan Lehuanani Wells of Tulsa; great-grandson, Dillon Thomas Wells of Tulsa; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clark Hampton; daughter, Betty Jane Hampton; mother, Christine Dee Tyner; father, Henry Meeks; and favorite dog, Missy.
