Funeral services for Shirley Ann (James) Williamson, 85, of Skiatook, OK, were held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Andy Anquoe officiated. Honorary Casket Bearers were all of Shirley’s friends.
Shirley was born December 1, 1938, in Durant, OK, to Herbert Marion James and Velma Christine (James) James. She passed away April 16, 2024, in Skiatook, OK.
Shirley attended Sperry Schools, where she was active in multiple activities including basketball, cheer, plays, and received the Betty Crocker homemaking medal. She graduated in 1957 and later married her childhood sweetheart, Virgil in 1958. They lived in the Sperry/Skiatook area, where they raised their 3 children. She spent several years doing what she loved best, being a homemaker and loving wife. Shirley later enjoyed several years working as a nurse in Skiatook.
Shirley was very involved in her church for many years, playing the organ, helping with Falls Creek, and eventually was an active part of the “Grub Grannies” at the church.
She is survived by her daughter, Chrisie Bedsworth and husband, Billy of Owasso; sons, James Williamson and wife, Melissa of Sperry, and Randall Williamson and wife, Laurie of Sperry; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; great-grandson Cayden James “Superman” Williamson; parents, Herbert and Velma James; sisters, Betty Jean James and Virginia James Duncan; and brother, Marion Lee James.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
