Funeral services for Schuyler "Sky" Wayne Turner, Sr., 86, of Tacna, AZ, were held Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, OK. His grandson, Pastor Jay Bean, officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Roger Turner, Bill Turner, Bill Penfield, Bryan Turner, Lantze Blevins, and Jason Lovan. Honorary Casket Bearers were Jim Turner, Matt Matlock, Cleo Penfield, Eric Kerns, Scott Nelson, and Mike Coghill. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

A memorial service was held in Sky's honor on April 26, 2009 in Wellton, AZ.

Sky was born April 17, 1923 in Strawn, KS to Thomas and Cora (Wheeler) Turner. He went to be with Jesus in Heaven on April 17, 2009 in Yuma, AZ.

He grew up in northern Missouri. He worked at a C.C. Camp, called Camp Crowder near Trenton, MO, and also at one near Linesville, IA where he learned the art of being a rock mason. He followed a harvest crew in 1946 to Lemmon, SD where he met Eleanor Anderson and married her on May 25, 1947. They brought 8 children into this union. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Wellton, AZ where they spent the winters. Sky enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and attending church. He liked playing cards and table games. His hobbies included collecting elephants, and he never saw a rock he didn't like.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Eleanor; sons, Roger Watts and wife Frances of Tulsa, Bill Turner of Bard, CA, Doug Turner and wife Maya of Anchorage, AK, and Jim Turner of Sperry; daughters, Carol Dvorak of Claremore, Nancy Matlock and husband Melvin "Matt" of Tacna, AZ; brother, Dale Turner and wife Juanita of Kansas City, MO; sister, Marie Turner of Duncanville, TX; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter; Connie Mae Turner; parents, Thomas and Cora Turner; son, Schuyler Wayne Turner, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Mary Turner; brothers, Robert Turner and wife Mary, Lloyd Turner and wife Frances, and Thomas Turner; sister, Ida Ruth (Turner) Kindred and husband Don.
