Ann (Baughman) Claxton

Funeral services for Sarah Ann (Baughman) Claxton, 79, of Sperry, OK, were held Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Victory Fellowship Church in Sand Springs, OK. Pastor Jim Catlett and Pastor Jordan Norman officiated, and burial was in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Casket bearers were Terry Carruthers, Ares McLain, Jackie McLain, and Dylan Korenak. 

Ann was born July 4, 1943, in Ponca City, OK, to Orville Richard Baughman and Juanita (Gillespie) Baughman. She passed away May 14, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

For many years, Ann dedicated herself to serving as a teacher's assistant at Sperry Public Schools. She embraced this role with unwavering dedication, imparting wisdom, and compassion to countless young minds. Her impact on the lives of her students went far beyond the confines of a classroom, as she nurtured their growth and instilled in them a love for learning that would accompany them throughout their lives.

Ann found great joy in various hobbies such as sewing, painting and pottery. She was also fond of watching movies but, above all else, she cherished spending time with her family.

Ann will be deeply missed by her loved ones and everyone who knew her. Her contagious smile and kind heart will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her son, Eric Claxton and wife, Janet; granddaughter, Sonya Korenak and husband, Dylan; LeAnn Claxton; great-grandson, Carson Korenak; sister, Jane McLain; brother, Steve Baughman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Claxton; and parents, Orville and Juanita Baughman.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
