Samuel "Sam" Meisner, Jr.

Memorial Services for Samuel "Sam" Meisner, Jr., 64, of Turley, were held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Skiatook, OK. Father Khiet "Joe" Nguyen officiated and arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Sam was born September 26, 1945 in Pueblo, CO to Samuel Meisner, Sr. and Clara Regina (Weigel) Graham. He passed away June 16, 2010 in Turley, OK.

Sam retired from the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief. He spent several years working as camp master for the Boy Scouts of America in Colorado. Sam's last occupation was as an over the road truck driver for Werner's flat bed division. One of the things Sammy did at Werner was to be part of the Million-Mile club. That means he went more than a million miles with no accidents. Not very many drivers were in that club. Sam had a passion for his flowers and cooking. It was not unusual for Sam to make ten loaves of bread and give them to his neighbors. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Vergeline Holtmeyer of Jefferson City, MO; son, Justin Meisner; granddaughters, Mariah Holtmeyer and Rosemund Holtmeyer; mother, Clara Graham of Canon City, CO; brothers, Jim Meisner and wife Jolene of Canon City, CO, Jerry Meisner and wife Kathy of Mobile, AL, Bob Meisner and wife Sarah of Round Rock, TX, Johnny Meisner of Turley, and Tim Graham and wife Sheila of Owasso; sisters, Clara Ann Downer and husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Waterman and husband Ken of Boone, CO, and Dorothy Stevens and husband Rick of Mesa, AZ; over 25 nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Oneika Hagendorff; father, Samuel Meisner, Sr.; brother, Mike Meisner; and sister, Nancy (Jones) Meisner.

The family requests donations be made in Sam's honor to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 W 5th, Skiatook, OK 74070.
