Funeral services for Samie Ray Parks, Jr., of Ramona, were held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Maria Clinkscales officiated and burial was in Ramona Cemetery in Ramona, OK. Casket bearers were Kenneth Parks, Richard Kever, Billy Workman, Zachary Reed, Kenny Ableane, and Cody Smith. Honorary casket bearers were Joshua Parks, Jimmy Vann, Rob Moran, Bob Johnson, and Robert Sparks.
Samie was born May 9, 1967 in Tulsa, OK to Samie Ray, Sr. and Phyllis Jean (Smith) Parks. He passed away November 27, 2011 in Bartlesville, OK at the age of 44.
Samie was a truck driver for 24 years and escort for 5 years. He loved to go fishing and spending time with his family. Samie also participated in the Special Olympics with the world’s largest truck convoy.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Parks of the home; daughters, Brittany Holland and April Parks; son Joshua Parks; stepson, Zachary Reed, the love of his life, Ruth; brother, Kenneth Parks and wife, Marla of Bartlesville; honorary brothers, Roberts Sparks and wife Linda of Bartlesville, Billy Ward and wife Missy of Oklahoma City; sisters, Jeane Parks and fiancé, Richard Kever of the home, Barcie Vann and husband Jimmy of Sallisaw, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samie Ray Parks, Sr.; his grandparents, and uncles.
