Ruth Joan Somers

Ruth Joan Somers, of Tulsa, OK was born March 27, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to George J. and Olive S. Patke. She passed away June 22, 2018 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 88.

Joan enjoyed listening to the news and keeping up with current events. She loved music and dancing. Joan grew up dancing and loved listening to the old crooner’s music from the 40’s & 50’s. She would talk to anyone, never meeting a stranger. Joan loved animals, especially her dog, Katie. Joan’s life was about her kids and family. She enjoyed going bargain shopping, and loved the time she got to spend with her kids going shopping, as well as when her kids pampered her, taking her to get her hair and nails done. Joan was loved very much by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Donald Glenn Somers, Jr. and partner, Stephen Schlesthenger, Jean Marie Barton and husband Chuck, Gary Alan Somers, Sherry Lee Kuzbari and husband Omar, and Kimberly Ann Somers; grandchildren, Andrew Somers, Phillip Somers, Carolyn Barton, Jennifer Barton, Amir Kuzbari, Sara Kuzbari, Sahar Kuzbari and Zak Kuzbari; great-grandchildren, Charlie Rose Heyen, Michael Heyen, Omar Kuzbari, and Austin Cesmet; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Glenn Somers, Sr.; and son, James Edward “Jimmy” Somers.
