Ruth Margaret Pennington

Funeral Services for Margaret Ruth Pennington, 83, of Chelsea, formerly of Owasso, were held Friday May 8, 2009 at the Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Phillip Smith officiated and burial was in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. Casket Bearers were Mack Pennington, John Leger, Danny Pennington, Jason Pennington, Luke Pennington, David Hamilton, Joe Biddle, Mark West and Blake Biddle. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Ruth was born December 29, 1925 in Tulsa, OK to Henry Clayton and Hattie Louisa (Foster) Tharp. She passed away May 2, 2009 in Tulsa, OK.

She was a member of the American Legion, Order of Eastern Star, and the Owasso Round-Up Club Auxillary. She was a homemaker after many years of working as a beautician. Her hobbies included playing bingo, going fishing and horseback riding, crocheting and knitting, and sewing quilts to give to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mack Pennington of Chelsea; children, Robert Pennington and wife Suzan of Broken Arrow, Billy Pennington and wife Linda of Claremore, Carole Leger and husband Larry of Owasso, Roy Pennington and wife Rene of West Fork, AR, Raymond Pennington of Alluwe, OK; grandchildren, Angela McGinnis, Ruth Brakefield, Jennifer Hamilton and husband David, Mack Pennington, and wife Kristin, Luke Pennington, Sandy Biddle, Danny Pennington and wife Danielle, Buddy Hovind, John Leger, Randy Leger, Scott Leger, Jason Pennington, April Pennington, Chelsie Pennington, Brian Hough and wife LeighAnn, Eric Beu; and sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Jimmy Lee Pennington and Tommy Gene Pennington; grandson, Jimmy Don Pennington; sisters, Mary WillaDean Hoff, Betty Hoff, Jean Leonard, Helen McMains and parents, Henry and Hattie Tharp.
