Funeral services for Ruth Margaret (Sayles) Hoover, of Broken Arrow, were held Monday, June 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Bill Field officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK.

Ruth was born June 27, 1922 in Genesee, WI to Burton Leslie and Clara (Loose) Sayles. She passed away May 27, 2013 in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 90.

In 1959, after her children were teenagers, Ruth went to work for the Waukesha Foundry Corporation. She was a clerk typist there for over 25 years. Ruth was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sperry, OK where her son-in-law, Bill Field, was her pastor.

Ruth married Lester H. Hoover on December 31, 1940, and they were married for over 66 years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting, reading, history, bird watching, spending time traveling, and camping with family and friends. Her greatest joy was caring for others and serving her Lord in many other capacities. It always brought a smile to her face when her great-grandchildren would tell her she was the smartest lady in the world.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Davidson and husband Don of Austin, MN, and Marjorie Field and husband Bill of Broken Arrow; son, David Hoover and wife Linda of West Allis, WI; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Lass, and Mary Ann Gramann and husband William, all of Waukesha, WI; brothers, Leslie Sayles of Pickerel, WI, Martin Sayles and wife Jessica of Tucson, AZ, and Daniel Sayles and wife Valerie of Delafield, WI; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hoover; her parents; step-mother, Frances Sayles; seven brothers; four sisters; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Sperry, OK.
