Memorial services for Roy Neal Morris, 67, of Collinsville, OK, were held September 25, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville, OK. Reverend Stacy Gaylord officiated. Burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.

Roy was born January 21, 2010 in Moore, OK to Leonard Mike and Gladys Jessie (McMurtrey) Morris. He passed away September 21, 2010 in Tulsa, OK.

In late 1962, Roy joined the United States Navy. He went through the Navy’s Radio Technology School and was then assigned to a top-secret Navy intel. He eventually worked up through the ranks to become the Lead Non Commissioned Petty Officer of a top-secret long-range radio monitoring system that monitored over the North Pacific Ocean. Roy signed an extension to his Navy service and served as the Radioman on an aircraft carrier sailing off the coast of Vietnam. Soon after he left the military he worked at KOTV channel 6 as an engineer. He was a dedicated counselor at the John 3:16 Mission where he taught the men to live stable and moral lives, to hold down jobs, and to be responsible. Roy worked for himself as an electrician, a plumber, and a heating and air mechanic.. His hobbies were sailing and OSU sports, especially wrestling. He loved to share the Lord, help others, and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Jody Turner and husband Rick of Houston; grandchildren, Blake Hammock of Houston, Regan Turner of Houston, Kyle Turner of Houston; brother, Mike Morris and wife Beverly of Ripley, OK; sisters, Wilma Smaligo and husband John of Collinsville, Margaret Gaylord and husband Grady of Collinsville, and Linda Dixon and husband Rick of Henryetta; aunt, Vera Rae Norton of CA; uncle, John McMurtrey and wife Evelyn of Tulsa; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his constant companion Rex, his Jack Russell terrier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Gladys Morris; and brother, Roland Morris.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
