Funeral services for Robert Price “Bob” Park, of Sperry, were held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Skiatook Christian Church in Skiatook, OK. Elder Charles Rowden officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Richard Akin, Louden Akin, Jagger Park, Kirby Hagemeister, Mike Juby and Kit Clark. Honorary casket bearers were David Casey, Bill Fisher, Gary Stevens, Lyle Hurd, John Marrs, and Arlie Christmas.
Bob was born August 30, 1924 in Sperry, OK to Arthur Burgess and Estella Marie (Yeargain) Park. He passed from this world to join his Lord and Savior June 8, 2013 at the age of 88. His life began and ended in his parent’s home northwest of Sperry.
Bob, also known as “Peeps”, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from Sperry High School in 1943. Bob was a lifetime member and Elder of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Sperry and became a founding member and Elder of the Skiatook Christian Church Disciples of Christ. From childhood, Bob was always active in athletics and was a Little League Baseball coach in the Sperry area and was one of three sponsors of the first Sperry Open Wrestling Tournament. Bob retired from Sperry Vickers after 27 years of service and became a full-time farmer and rancher. He started service on the Sperry Schools Board of Education in 1976 and became its president in 1982. In 1999, the Sperry Merchants Association presented him with the Longtimers Award and in 2012, presented the same award to Bob and his wife, Katie.
He is survived by his children, Lana Clark and husband Dick, Karol Akin, and Robert W. Park and wife Tonya; grandchildren, Lisa Hagemeister and husband Kirby, Tracey Juby and husband Mike, Richard Akin and wife Tracey, Duncan Akin, Kit Clark and wife Liz Ann, Jagger Park, Cooper Park, and Racheal Akin Quinn; great-grandchildren, Madison Juby, Levi Juby, Louden Akin, Lakelee Akin, Acey Akin, and Jacob Clark, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie, his parents Arthur and Estella Park; three brothers; Y.T. Park, Earl Park and A.B. Park; two sisters, Lorene Rumsey and Verona Patrick; and son-in-law, David Akin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Skiatook Christian Church Building Fund, the Cliff and Helen Grace Herrington - Sperry Schools Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
