Funeral services for Richard Edwin “Rick” Collins, 71, of Sperry, were held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, OK. Reverend Jerry Harper Jr. and Pastor Kevin Varnell officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Blake Wensman, Alex Collins, Brendon Collins, Ricky Cannon, Wayne McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Kelly Wensman and Donnie Javier. Honorary casket bearers were Nicolas Wensman, Keegan Collins, Mike Varnell and Richard Barnes.
Rick was born February 2, 1945 in Skiatook, OK to Eliga Allen and Ada Mae (Logsdon) Collins. He passed away June 30, 2016 in Tulsa, OK.
Rick was a furniture trader from his teenage years until present day for Varnell’s Auction and became a restaurant owner in Sperry with his wife in 1986. His core belief was hard work. Rick’s favorite hobby was his horses and his love of TU Basketball and LA Dodgers. He was the President of the Sperry Merchants Association and the Turley Round-Up Club. Rick enjoyed helping and building the community of Sperry and was a sponsor of the Sperry Schools Athletics.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Collins of Sperry; children, Kyle Collins and wife Julie of Sand Springs, Mindy Wensman and husband Kelly, Ricky Cannon and Mike Cinko; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Elnora Jones and husband Larry of Mannford; brothers, Chester Collins of Mannford and Wesley Collins of Memphis, TN; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliga and Ada Collins; daughter, Christy Collins; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
