Funeral services for Richard Lloyd Causby, 84, of Tulsa, were held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Don Kinney and Edgar Williams officiated and burial was in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Casket bearers were Jeff Birkenolz, Joseph Hudson, Dalton Birkenholz, and Clinton Hudson, and Brody Birkenholz. Honorary casket bearers were Lucas Birkenholz, Steve Haskins, Greg McMaster, and Richard’s VFW and Odd Fellow friends.
Richard was born July 27, 1930 in Cave City, AR to Charles Richard and Edna E. (Welder) Causby. He passed away January 29, 2015.
Richard was a Korean War veteran with the United States Army and was also an accountant. Richard was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former commander of the VFW Post 9077 in Turley and former secretary of the Bixby Odd Fellows. Richard was an avid fisherman and a vivacious reader who always had a Louis L’Amour book with him. He loved going to the Tulsa Zoo and loved being outdoors. Richard was a beloved family man who adored spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Causby; daughters, Kathy Thomason and husband Don of Dunbar, KY, Brenda Haskins and husband Steve of Winganon, and Margrett Zambrano of Tulsa; son, Samuel Causby and wife Sharon of Prairie Village, KS; granddaughter, Teneya Birkenholz and husband Jeff of Mannford; grandsons, Joseph Hudson and wife Mary of Sperry, and Clinton Hudson and wife Crista of Ramona; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; two brothers; five sisters, niece, Kathy McMaster and husband Greg; numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna Causby; great-grandson, Wade Birkenholz; and sisters, Ida Ruth Farris, and Kathy Rasco.
