Richard Kelvin Brackett

Funeral services for Richard Kelvin Brackett, 67, of Sperry, OK, were held Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Andy Anquoe officiated. Honorary Casket bearers were Randy Brackett, Danny Brackett, Phillip Reed, Kaleb Toone, John Mims, and David Chancellor.

Richard was born September 30, 1955, in Fort Smith, AR, to Reverend Garland Brackett and Annetta (Chancellor) Brackett. He passed away August 27, 2023, in Sperry, OK.

Richard grew up in several towns in Arkansas, as the family moved when his dad went to pastor a new church. He graduated from Sheridan High School and later graduated with a bachelors degree from Ouachita Baptist University. Richard continued his education at Southwestern Seminary, and he spent some time on the mission field in New York. Richard managed several restaurants, including Crystal’s Pizza and Casa Bonita spanning an almost 45 years period and was actively invested in his employees. He was a fierce dominoes competitor with his family. Richard enjoyed walking with the intent of beating his previous times, fishing in any body of water he could, attending all kinds of sporting events (especially at Sperry Schools), worshipping at various Christian concerts, and celebrating the Lord at First Baptist Church in Sperry. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Richard was an avid supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, John 3:16 Mission and the American Red Cross. Richard had plans to attend and was looking forward to his 50th high school reunion this fall. Richard loved everyone unconditionally, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Delia Rodriguez of Tulsa; son, Joshua Brackett and wife, Lindsey of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Vanessa Reed and husband, Phillip of Owasso; son, Elijah Brackett and Kaleb Toone of Sperry; son, José Cortes Rodriguez and Ashley Ybarra of Tulsa; daughter, Sara Cortes and husband, Gabriel Romero of Comayagua, Honduras; son, Josue Cortes Rodriguez of Comayagua, Honduras; grandchildren, Lillian Brackett, Hannah Brackett and Clara Brackett of Phoenix, AZ, Flynn Reed and Titus Reed of Owasso, Benjamin Brackett of Sperry, and Angeles Romero, Madison Romero, and Lucus Romero of Comayagua, Honduras; mother, Annetta Brackett of Arkadelphia, AR; brothers, Randy Brackett and wife, Cynthia of Jonesborough, TN, and Danny Brackett and wife, Mandy of Bentonville, AR; sister, Tracy Mims and husband, John of Lewisville, TX; grand dog, Royal of Owasso; and many other relatives and friends.
