Funeral Services for Reverend Hobert Oscar Enkey, 87, of Owasso, were held Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Owasso Pentecostal Church in Owasso, OK. Reverend Shane Cheek officiated and burial was in the Box Cemetery in Blackgum, OK. Casket Bearers were Eddie Blevins, Fred Blevins, Rex Dean, Delbert Morgan, Tim Berkley and Ben Thulin. Honorary Casket Bearers were Ervin Collins, Morris Collins, Rick Holycross, II, David Enkey, Gilbert Enkey, Forrest Holycross, and Rev. Carl Keller. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Hobert was born August 28, 1926 in Haskell, OK to Oscar and Gertie (Martin) Enkey. He passed away October 23, 2013 in Owasso, OK.
Rev. Hobert's father was a farmer and his mother was a homemaker. From 1944-1946 he was with the 81st Cavalry Troop in the Philippines and Japan. He arrived the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed. Rev. Hobert was a loving husband of 39 years to Rev. Nellie Enkey, before her passing in 2010. He was a loving father to seven children. Rev. Hobert pastored the True Holiness Church with Rev. Nellie Enkey for 29 years. Rev. Hobert worked for Dover Norris for 38 years before retiring in 1990, but his greatest joy in life was preaching God's word. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir, watching John Wayne movies, Jimmy Swaggart, and taking care of his little dog Rab. Rev. Hobert was loved by many and never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his son, David Enkey of Catoosa; daughter, Glenda Holycross and husband Rick, II of Owasso; stepsons, Eddie Blevins and wife Marguerite of Owasso, and Fred Blevins and wife Mary of Broken Arrow; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Daisy Cue of Tulsa and Treva Keener of Tulsa; brother, Gilbert Enkey and wife Amy of Haskell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Enkey; parents, Oscar and Gertie Enkey; grandparents, Andrew and Martha Martin and David and Pearl Enkey; brothers, Hubert Enkey, Delbert Enkey, and a baby; daughter, Pamela Enkey; sons, Junior Lee Enkey and James Enkey; granddaughter, Angel Cauble; sister-in-law, Audrey Ritter; brothers-in-law, Wayne Keener, Loyd Cue, Voyd Collins and Dwight Collins; and many other family members.
