Renee Elizabeth (Demeree) Salter, of Skiatook, passed away June 12, 2011 in Skiatook, OK at the age of 55. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Adam Stang will officiate.


Renee was born June 12, 1956 in Bainbridge, NY to Philip G. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Denny) Demeree.

Renee spent most of her young life in and around Bainbridge, Coventry, and Greene in NY state. She spent her early years riding, swimming, and skiing. At age 6, she was stricken with viral encephalitis. Surviving a coma and numerous surgeries, she learned to speak, walk, and she acquired an infectious smile, laughter, and sense of humor. Her doctors felt she was a true miracle. She attended Maplebrook School in Amenia, NY.

She learned to play a 12 string guitar. She had a lovely voice. She sang a lot of blue grass and folk music, even some rock and roll. She played in restaurants, private clubs and other various venues. She often led karaoke. She spent 20 years living in Scottsdale, AZ. From 2004 until her passing, she lived in a home in Skiatook, OK with 10 acres, pecan trees and a pond.

Everyone who knew her, loved her. Everyone talked about how brave and spunky she was. She had beautiful eyes and a bubbly demeanor. Renee passed peacefully in the early morning hours of her birthday. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Demeree; and sister, Lisa (Denny) Demeree.

She is survived by her life partner, Larry Juby of Skiatook; daughter, Tera Salter of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Alexis Kenoyer of Hope Hills, NC; father, Philip G. Demeree and wife Gloria of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers, Brad Demeree and wife Teresa of Sperry, and Phil Fraizer of Norman; nephew, Brady; nieces, Brittney and Merissa of Skiatook; great-nephew, “Big Mike”Ames; great-niece, Kassadie Ames; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements and services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
