Randy was born January 19, 1964 in Perry, OK to Eddie Hodge and Judith Ann Ridley. He passed away February 12, 2014 in Owasso, OK.
Randy graduated from Perry High School in 1982, and then graduated from NEO. Randy was a cowboy at heart. He ranched, showed cattle, and was lastly involved in oil field exploration. He enjoyed being with his sons, family and friends at rodeos, ropings, and cattle shows. Randy was a member of the USTRC, AQHA, and the Owasso Round-Up Club. Randy’s family always came first. His true loves were his wife and his three sons. When his boys were little, Randy never missed a football game or a wrestling match if he was in the country. As they got older and got into roping, riding broncs, and showing cattle, if it was possible, you can bet he was there supporting them, or roping with them. Randy had countless friends in the show cattle and rodeo world, and he loved to rope.
When it came to showing cattle, he was definitely a legend. Randy got started in FFA at Perry High School, which got him a scholarship to NEO A&M College where he was a judge on the livestock judging team and they were junior college national champions. That is also where he met his wife, Deirdre. After graduating from NEO, Randy started working for different purebred ranches, getting cattle ready for shows and sales, or whatever he could do to support his growing family. He then went to OSU with his wife and new baby, Cord where he also judged and was on the national championship senior college team. It didn’t matter if it was a local show like Sperry, Owasso, Denver, or the American Royal, whatever he was fitting, he wasn’t going to quit ‘til they were dialed in to the max.
Randy was definitely a perfectionist at it which definitely attributed to his success. It is very likely he had shown and worked on as many national champions from as many different breeds as anybody in the business; from Angus to Beltys, and from Canada to Brazil and just about everywhere in between. If you roped or led cattle, you knew Randy; and if you knew him, you were going to know his family. Everyone knew that Deirdre had to be part saint and he was damn sure going to tell you what Cord, Cole and Tuff were up to. They were definitely his world and never a prouder dad ever lived.
He is survived by his wife, Deirdre; his sons and their loves, Cord, Dayna and Macey, Cole and Sarah, and Tuff and Haley; father, Eddie Hodge; mother, Judith Ann Ridley; brother, Brett Allen and wife Lisa and the children, Candice, Lauren, Shadowe, Gratt, and Augustus; and numerous great nieces and great nephews; sister, Dawn Rae Ware and husband Bill, their daughter, Brittany, and her son, Caedyn; father-in-law, Charles Sisler and wife Mimi; sister-in-law, Rise Sisler; grandmother, Venita Hodge; aunts, Precious aunt Donna, Yvonne Hodge, and Shirley Dunham and husband Richard; uncles, Gary Ridley and wife Eula, and “Unkie” Harold Hodge and wife Mildred; cousins, Justin and Jana Hodge, Holly Dyess, Jeff Dyess, Destiny, Hunter, Gunner, Grant, Daphne, Joe, Lee Anna, and Mitchell Spurlock and family, Shanda and Gustus; and many other relatives and friends.
