Funeral services for Phyllis Coriene (Edwards) Hanlin, of Claremore, were held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Community of Christ in Sperry, OK. Elder Charles Rowden officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Darel Benningfield, Kevin Hanlin, Anthony Benningfield, Jon Aaron Carrico, Jeff Veron, Michael Rider, and Luke Osborne. Honorary casket bearers were Terry Wadsworth, Chance Massa, Chandler Massa, Gabriella Bartelme, Kirstin Carrico, and Kasaundra Dodson.
Phyllis was born April 29, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Claude Glen and Ethel (Rogers) Edwards. She passed away April 14, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 86.
Phyllis was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa and the Claremore hospital. She worked as an office clerk at American Airlines. She loved bowling and playing bunco. She had a fishing dock where she liked to go to relax. Phyllis enjoyed her time in the garden, especially planting flowers. She was well known for her famous cooking. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband of 50+ years, Gene Hanlin of Claremore; daughters, Susan Osborne-Rider and husband Mike of Tahlequah, and Vickie Benningfield and husband Darel of Anderson, MO; brother, Gene Edwards and wife Virginia of TN; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Hanlin of Sperry; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ethel Edwards; brothers, Ray Edwards and Cecil Edwards; sisters, Dion Blankenship and Marcella Day.
