Funeral services for Phillip Howell Smith, of Talala, were held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Charles Rowden officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Matthew Morrow, Dakota Blankenship, Tucker Blankenship, Adam Longley, Dale Morrow and Paul Ragsdale.
Phillip was born November 18, 1985 in Boulder, CO to Richard Clay and Mary Elizabeth (Peters) Smith. He passed away August 27, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 26.
Phillip was a student. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing music and poetry. Phillip was a kind soul and had a big heart for helping those in need. He could make anyone laugh. Phillip loved to cook and travel. He saw the greatness in everyone and the beauty in everything.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth (Peters) Smith of Talala; brother, Matthew Morrow of Skiatook; sisters, Mary Morrow-Hughart and husband Matt of Owasso, and Katie Smith-Tipper and husband Brent of Fayetteville, TN; aunt, Arden Smith-Humphrey and husband Con of Fayetteville, TN; nephews, Nathan Morrow, Ryker Morrow Jacob Hugart, and Walker Tipper; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Clay Smith; maternal grandparents, Lewis Howard and Donnie Ann Peters; paternal grandparents, Robert Clay Smith and Maudie Howell-Smith; uncles, James Peters and Robert Peters; and aunt, Dora Rowden-Peters.
