Patty Sue (Howlett) Taylor

Memorial services for Patty Sue “Pat” (Howlett) Taylor, 83, a longtime resident of Bakersfield, CA, and recently of Owasso, OK, were held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Pastor James Taylor and David Olmedo officiated the celebration of her life.

Pat was born March 25, 1940, in Vernon, CO, to Russell Moreland Howlett and Nina Mable (White) Howlett. She received her promotion into eternal life on February 4, 2024.

Pat was one of three children. She attended schools in Bakersfield, CA, graduating from East Bakersfield High School in 1958. Pat retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2005, but her favorite “job” was that of Mom and Grandy. Pat was known as “Grandy” to her grandchildren and all their friends. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending their events, and bragging about their accomplishments. Pat was most known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh. She accepted Jesus as her Savior late in life and was baptized by her son-in-law, David, at the Norwalk Free Will Baptist Church. She moved to Oklahoma in 2019 and attended the Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Sperry. In 2023, at the age of 83, Pat read through the Bible as part of a challenge Pastor Hinson issued to the congregation. Pat was truly loved and is greatly missed.

Pat is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Gregory; children, Christine Roam and husband Ken, James Taylor and wife Leah, and Tracy Olmedo and husband David; grandchildren, Jordan Cole, Caleb Olmedo, Luke Taylor, Maddison Olmedo, Allison Olmedo, and Chloe Olmedo; great-grandchild, Benjamin; several loving nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Nina Howlett; and brother, Ralph Howlett.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
