Funeral Services for Norman James Gibson, 84, of Ochelata, were held Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. The Reverend Mike McDougan officiated and burial was in the Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs, OK. Casket bearers were Bart Ennis, Tom Holland, Joe Wilson, Duane Wilson, Jay Gibson, Cory Ennis, Randy Ennis, James Gibson, and Travis Ennis. Honorary casket bearers were Michael Gibson and Raymond Gibson, II. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
Norman was born December 4, 1925 in Bismark, MO to James Gibson and Murtle (Crocker) Gibson Blackwell. He passed away January 28, 2010 in Ochelata, OK.
Norman worked for 25 years as a plant foreman for Druon Die Products Glass Plant in Tulsa, OK. He loved to play music with his family and friends. Norman loved to watch old westerns and wrestling and he enjoyed smoking his pipe. He was a strong man and didn't let much bring him down. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Glenda Ennis and husband Cary of Decature, AR, Bonnie Lockett and husband Carl of Tulsa, Mary Wilson of Salina, Ivy Childers and husband Jim of Bartlesville, and Sheila Gibson of CA; sons, Norman L. Gibson of Ochelata, Raymond Gibson of Ochelata, Calvin Gibson of Ochelata, and Jesse Gibson, Sr. of Ochelata; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Gibson; daughters, Nancy Lloyd and Tammy Gibson; son, Vernon R. Gibson; grandson, William Holland; father, James Gibson; mother, Murtle Blackwell; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
