Graveside services for Norma Mae “Me-Maw” (Tinney) Anderson, of Broken Arrow, were held Friday, October 12, 2012 at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Mr. Phillip Johnson officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Rick Vanover, Patrick Vanover, John Vanover, Shawn Paul Anderson, Andrew “A.J.” Alexander, Taylor Alexander, Roger Anderson, Sr., Roger Anderson, Jr., Ronnie Carlson, Joseph Anderson, and Journey Anderson.
Norma was born April 22, 1935 in Pretty Prairie, KS to Earl and Edna (McClure) Tinney. She passed away October 10, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 77.
Norma started working at a young age as a typist for McDonnell Douglas. She also worked as a supervisor at Annaburg Manor and the Hayloft Dinner Theatre. For most of her career, Norma was a licensed day care provider, where for over 2 decades; she cared for and loved hundreds of children. Norma loved playing the piano, as well as watching golf and Dallas Cowboys football. She also loved to collect and give away stuffed animals. Norma especially loved to spend time with her family and talking on the phone. She was the communication hub of the family. If someone wanted to know what was going on with everyone, she was their go to gal.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Vanover and husband Rick of VA, Sharon Carlson and husband David of Broken Arrow, Roger Anderson, Sr. of OH, Eric Anderson and wife Sheila of Purcell, and Gary Anderson and wife, Shonda of Lawrence, KS; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Thompson, Wanda Tinney, and Carolyn and husband Jim Lee; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Edna Tinney; daughter-in-law, Debbie Anderson; and sister, Lavonne Thomas and Paul Thomas.
