Funeral Services for Monroe Thulin, 86, of Collinsville, were held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Sperry United Pentecostal Church in Sperry, OK. Sister Linda McGowan officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket Bearers were Brad Cherry, Donald French, Joseph Sanders, C.J. Cordrey, Johnny Thulin, Jr., and Kevin Thulin. Honorary Casket Bearers were Colton Thulin, Austin Thulin, and Matthew Mitchell. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Monroe was born October 31, 1927 in Turkey Ford, OK to Alexander Edward and Mary (Allen) Thulin. He passed away July 4, 2014 in Owasso, OK.

Monroe was an oil field contractor, plumber, mechanic, and electrician. A jack of all trades, he could do just about anything. Monroe started working in the oil fields when he was 12 years old. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Monroe loved building and working on things. He would stand in the kitchen and watch the birds eating and the hummingbirds flying around. Monroe was a member of the Faith Temple Jesus Name Church in Claremore and loved going to church when he was able.

He is survived by his children, Vicki Cherry and husband Al of Claremore, Janice Cassidy of Pierre, SD, Johnny Thulin and wife Donna of Collinsville, Robert Thulin and wife Lisa of Owasso, and Stacy Sanders and husband Jim of Inola; grandchildren, Brad Cherry, Heather (Cherry) Cordrey, Dalene (Mitchell) Blaylock, Maleia (Mitchell) Hanna, Matthew Mitchell, Johnny Thulin, Jr., Kevin Thulin, Megan Thulin, Colton Thulin, Austin Thulin, Joseph Sanders, and Makayla Sanders; great-grandchildren, Courtland, Hunter, Skyland, Wynter, Kev, Kimball, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Leia, Chloe, Austin, Morgan, Emma, Bellamy Monroe, Sophia, and two on the way; brothers, Alex Thulin, Milo Thulin, and Boyd Thulin; sisters, Neilus Jones, Mag Piro, and Mernie Copeland; several nieces, nephews, his church family; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Freeda Thulin; daughter, Mary Estel “Stella” Thulin, grandson, Jeremy Thulin; parents, Alexander and Mary Thulin; brothers, Clay Thulin, and Ed Thulin; and sister, Corene Thulin.
