Funeral services for Mildred Delores “Mickey” (Wells) Robinson, of Tulsa, were held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Turley United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. Reverend Rose Marie Ballante LeRoy and Reverend Don Tabberer officiated and burial was in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Casket bearers were Jim Lewis, Wayne Bunch, Albert Kemp, Doug Worley, Joe Haney, and Scott Haney. Honorary casket bearers were The Turley Odd Fellows and The Rebekahs.
Mickey was born September 11, 1934 in Tulsa, OK to John L. and Judith E. (Brooks) Wells. She passed away October 5, 2011 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 77.
Mickey was a graduate of Barnsdall 55, Tulsa Roosevelt Junior High, and the 1952 class of Tulsa Central. She was married to Gene Robinson on July 18, 1952. Mickey was a homemaker and child care provider, who also worked in the cafeteria at William Penn School and in the Dean of Boys Office at McLain High School. She was a member of the Turley United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women’s Society, and the Turley Rebekah Lodge. Mickey was also a Vacation Bible School teacher. Active in the support of her husband and children, she was a Cub Scout den mother, Cherokee School homeroom mother, and scorekeeper and Coach’s Wife in the North Tulsa Youth Sports. She loved camping and fishing on weekends, especially going on church retreats to Camp Egan. She was an animal lover and was a Tulsa Zoo Friend. She enjoyed gardening, reading, making ceramics, playing the piano, doing word puzzles, and especially writing poetry. Mickey was especially known for her Halloween haunted houses and playing a scary witch for the neighborhood children.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gene Robinson; daughters, Ann Forbis and husband Jack, and Nancy Kruse and husband Rick; son Ron Robinson and wife Bonnie Ashing; grandchildren and spouses, Heather Forbis and Phillip Monroe, Jack and Stephanie Forbis, Clara and Joe Corn, Katie and Grant Baker, Abigail Robinson, Alyssa and Paul Whaley, and Ericka Kruse; great-grandchildren, Michaela Monroe and Aiden Forbis; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Judith Wells; brothers, Gilbert Wells and Kenneth Wells; and sisters, Ruth Haney and Peggy Massey.
