Mildred Aileen Carter

Graveside memorial services for Mildred Aileen (Birkes) Carter, 91, of Tulsa, OK, were held Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Larry Carter, Ron Carter, Roger Carter, and Bill Carter officiated.

Mildred was born September 13, 1929, in Tulsa, OK, to Harry and Gladys E. (Brooks) Birkes. She passed away August 26, 2021, in Tulsa, OK.

Mildred was a devout Christian, lifelong Oklahoman, and proud mother of four boys. Her family was everything to her. The day after graduating as her high school’s Valedictorian in 1947, Mildred married Eugene Carter. They were happily married for 52 years before Gene passed away in 1999. She had an impressive 50-year career in the oil and gas industry, working for Nadel and Gusman and then TP Harris until she retired at 87-years-old.  Mildred loved spending time in her kitchen, creating delicious meals for others. She was also a skilled piano player, with many memories playing at her church and for her family during Christmas celebrations.

She is survived by her sons Larry Carter, Ron Carter, Roger Carter and Bill “Buzz” Carter; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
