Funeral services for Michael Dewayne Tackett, 52, of Tulsa, were held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Community of Christ Church in Sperry, OK. Elder Connie Bias officiated.
Dewayne was born October 28, 1963 in Tulsa, OK to John Henry and Vivian LaJune (Miller) Tackett. He passed away November 5, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.
When Dewayne first started school, It was his first day of kindergarten and his mom, Vivian sent him out the go but he didn’t’ want to go because he couldn’t tie his shoes. So he went out the door like he was going but snuck back to the side of the house, laid down and went back to sleep. He woke up and waited until school was out, then went inside the house like he had been at school. Dewayne didn’t know that the neighbor called his mom to let her know that he was there, and that they kept an eye on him so they knew he was okay. Vivian finally let him know that she knew. That was the first time he skipped school.
His dad gave him the nickname, Mouse because he could wiggle his ears. His family thought that was the neatest thing. All of his sibling’s friends tried to but they couldn’t do it. They all looked silly but Dewayne was the only one who could. Dewayne loved to ride motorcycles, watching motocross, and watching football. He loved his pets and talked with them like they were his babies.
If you knew Dewayne, you know he always had his ball cap and sunglasses on. He never went anywhere without them. That was his trademark! Brandon was his world and he loved him more than life itself!
He is survived by his sister, Dianne Eshelman and husband Kimbal; brothers, John Tackett and Dean Tackett; niece, Kymbaly Eshelman; nephews, Henry Tackett, Nathan Tackett, and Brian Tackett; great-nephew who was loved as a son, Brandon Tackett; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vivian Tackett; and sister, Deborah Kay Tackett
