Funeral services for
Melvin A. Patten,78,
of Tulsa, were Thursday,
May 1, 2008 in the Johnson
Funeral Chapel in
Sperry. The Rev. Roger Lane and the Rev. Vicki Chance (his niece) officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Sperry.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry.
Pallbearers were William Lawton, Jeffrey Chance, Robert Gaddy, Jr., Steve Thelander, James Singletary and Michael Lawton.
He was born on March 5, 1930, in Baltimore, Md., to Clifford Andrew and Beulah (Wagner) Patten. He passed away on April 27, 2008.
He served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a X-Ray technician and X-Ray service engineer.
After he retired, he worked part-time as a security guard. The family said, "If Melvin couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed."
He is survived by his wife, Freda D. Patten of the home; son, Vernon Richard Patten and wife Deborah; daughters, Rebecca Lawton and husband Michael W., Linda Singletary and husband James F., and Gale Thomas; grandchildren, William A. Lawton and wife Maranda, Laena Rambo and husband Keith, Laurie Burke and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Emily Burke and Brian Burke; sisters, Dorothy, June and Miriam; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Andrew Patten; his mother, Beulah (Wagner) Patten; brothers, Kenny Patten, George Patten, and Steve Patten; and sister, Ruth Patten. Family and friends can sign the guestbook at www.johnsonfhsperry.com.
