Mary Jane Potter

Graveside services for Mary Jane Potter, 82, of Sperry, OK, were held Friday, April 28, 2023, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Brother Wes Easter officiated. Casket bearers were Jack Girdner, Austin Foster, Blake Girdner, Josh Shackelford, Tee Jay Thompson, and Jason Cartwright. Honorary Casket bearers were Sophia Foster, Emmie Foster, Nathaniel Ward, Devin Wilson, William Madrigal, Eva Madrigal, and her beloved Diesel.

Mary was born June 26, 1940, in Tulsa, OK, to Ted Albert Potter and Janette Marie (Kindig) Potter. She passed away April 22, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

Mary was a strong loving woman who raised 5 children own her own with occasional help from her parents. She had many struggles and trials in her life but overcame them all. Mary opened a restaurant in Sperry and went to work every single day to support her children. When it came to her children, Mary was as fierce as a lion, and when they were hurt, she was as gentle as a lamb. Mary’s greatest joy was helping raise her grandbabies, her great-grandbabies, and her great-great-grandbabies. She loved and cherished her babies, and they loved her. 

Mary will be missed by all that loved her. Praise God she is in His arms, and there is no more pain and no more sorrow.

She is survived by her daughters, Janice, Susan, Barb, and Christy; son, Wayne, Jr.; grandchildren, Jack Girdner, Laura Ward, Terra Madrigal, Colt Moore, Amanda Foster, Kim Foster, Austin Foster, and Hailey Foster; great-grandchildren, Courtney Ward, Blake Girdner, Devin Wilson, Wyatt Moore, Cori Moore, Raelynn Foster, Josh Shackelford, Waylon Moore Sophie Foster, Trinity Shackelford, Emberlynn Foster, Eva Madrigal, Jayme Henry, and William Madrigal; great-great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Ward, and Kolt Girdner; sister, Helen Arnold; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Marie Potter; grandchildren, Little Daryl and Randy Wayne Foster;siblings, Jack Potter and Jean Parker;.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
