Mary Melissa Lewallen

Funeral services for Mary Melissa (Hooper) Lewallen, 93, of Tulsa, were held Friday, November 6, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Travis H. Martin officiated and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.

Mary was born January 7, 1922 in Shamrock, OK to John William and Alice Victoria (Wheeler) Hooper. She passed away November 3, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.

Mary was a devoted family caregiver. She was also a Secretary of PTA at Riverview Elementary School in Tulsa, worked in the Cub Scouts, and was also the owner of The Turquoise Shop in Turley. Mary enjoyed reading, working crosswords and puzzles, embroidery, collecting “chicken” dishes, gardening and spending time with her family. She loved the Lord. Mary was gracious and kind, and loved by all.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Lewallen and wife Jeannie of Conroe, TX, Gary Lewallen of Austin, TX, and Terry Lewallen and wife LaVonna of Tulsa; grandchildren, Tracy, Whitney, Marty, Sabrina, Michelle, Kristen, and Elissa; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Hooper; husband, Floyd Melvin Lewallen; son, Billy Don Lewallen; and brothers, Earl, Merritt, Arlie, and two as infants.
