Memorial services for Marlyn Faith Baxter, 66, of Skiatook, were held at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Father Kenneth Iheanacho officiated.
Our beloved sister Marlyn Faith Baxter, passed away due to complications with cancer, in the early morning of October 20 in the year of the lord 2016 at the age of 66 years, 4 months. She was born in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory on June 20, 1950 to Hazel Nadine (Evans) Osterby and Charles Edward Baxter. Marlyn spent her youth in Fairbanks and Tok, Alaska before moving to the Sperry, OK area in the mid 70’s. Marlyn was a devoted sister and aunt who was considered to be a gentle soul to all that knew her. Marlyn found great comfort and joy in being part of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church community and the Cherokee Campaigns, which allowed her to gain greater understanding of her Cherokee heritage.
Marlyn is survived by her sisters, Diana Whithorn of Livingston, MT, Shirley Merkley of Anchorage, AK, and Sharon Baxter of Sperry, OK; her brothers Charles Baxter of Saline, MI, Ray Osterby of Minot, ND and Daniel Osterby of Anchorage, AK; as well as 13 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; 2 great-great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Marlyn was preceded in death by both parents, her older brother Robert Bruce Curry, her nieces Beth Ann Osterby and Rhea Lynn Baxter.
