Mark was born June 4, 1962 in Midland, MI to Lloyd R. and Dorothy E. (Young) Umphrey. He passed away May 9, 2014 in Sand Springs, OK.
Mark moved back and forth from MI to OK and also lived in Punta Gorda, FL for about 15 years before finally settling back in OK for good in 1993. He was an electrician for most of his life, most recently working for TEMCO Electric in Tulsa. For a few years, Mark also travelled the country building bridges. He was a full throttle hard worker, who always took his work seriously and wanted it done right, as fast as possible. Mark was a hard guy to work next to because he held such high standards for his work and would make most of us look slow! He had a hard exterior but those that really knew Mark, know that he had a very soft heart of gold. An incredibly generous man, Mark would give you his last dollar if you asked and never tell you it was his last. He had a passion for food and loved to eat and cook out (you can see this runs in the family!). He loved to use the grille all the time. Family and friends were very important to Mark; he held them above all else, well maybe not higher than his dogs! Mark loved his dogs; they were more like children to him.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Carla Glasgow; daughter, Kimberly Umphrey of Struthers, OH; step-children, Darlyn Glasgow, Destiny West of Chickasha, and Sean Glasgow of Stillwater; siblings, Raymond Umphrey and wife Vicky of Grove, Robert Umphrey and wife Lois of Lone Grove, Vanda Barry and husband Rob of Yale, Richard Umphrey of Oklahoma City, Lloyd Umphrey, Jr. of Beaverton, MI, and Kelly Umphrey and wife Connie of Sperry; aunt, Ruth Reid and husband Dick of Beaverton, MI; uncles, Bill Young and wife Mary, and Jack Young and wife Janeane all of Beaverton, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Umphrey; and mother, Dorothy Young.
