Funeral services for Margaret Elizabeth (Williams) McDonald, of Talala, were held Friday, April 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Andy Anquoe and Pastor Lester Orwig officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Jerry Ridenour, Robert Martin, Steve Juby, Gary Juby, James Lee McDonald and John Charles Burns III.
Elizabeth was born October 26, 1916 in Farmington, AR to Tom and Mattie (Crawford) Williams. She passed away April 14, 2013 in Owasso, OK at the age of 96.
Elizabeth was the 3 rd born child of 8 children. Her family moved to Tulsa when she was very young. She attended schools in the area where she went to Lowell Jr. High School, which was the highest grade she attended. She lived in several places with her family during her lifetime and one place was Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked in a drugstore.
She met Loyd McDonald at the Rainbow Skating Rink in Turley, Oklahoma, and they married on December 24, 1938. To this union were born 4 children; 3 daughters and 1 son. They also adopted two nieces. Elizabeth worked in many places during her lifetime. She worked in a café in Turley that they owned. She also worked at a root beer stand, Winter’s Doughnut Shop in Turley, Sawyer’s Drugstore, and Britton Cleaners. Later, she babysat for Dr. Winters’ children, followed by going to work for him as a medical assistant.
She grew up in a Freewill Baptist Church, but later joined the Golden Hills Southern Baptist Church in Turley. She came to know the Lord at an early age and was faithful in every church she was a part of. She later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Sperry and worked in the nursery there for many years. She was faithful in all that she did for the Lord.
Due to her declining health, she moved into the Sequoyah Pointe Living Center in Owasso where she lived for the last eight years of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Jerry Martin and husband Bob of Talala, Jean Ridenour and husband Bob of Skiatook, Sandra Magill of Spavinaw, Patsy Rogers of Sapulpa; son, Jimmy McDonald and wife Kitty of Paris, AR; 14 grandchildren; more than 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pat Juby; granddaughter, Barbara Martin; and parents, Tom and Mattie Williams.
