Funeral services for Marcus Lee Juby was born April 22, 1938 to Leo Avery and Edith Tucker Juby in Sperry, Oklahoma. He married Carlene Christine Doerr on November 8, 1957 in Sperry and on June 18, 2005, they were sealed as husband and wife, according to the ordinance of God, for time and eternity in the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. To this union was born two children, Laura Jane Launius of Greenville, SC and Marc Wayne Juby of Skiatook, OK.
He graduated from Sperry High School in 1957. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball during high school and was selected on the District 14B All Conference football team his senior year. Marcus attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a B.S., M.S.Ed. in Agricultural Education and Ph.D. in Vocational and Technical Education. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Kansas, OK, Oilton, OK, and Collinsville, OK for a total of eight years. He was employed as a Research Assistant in fruit production with the University of Arkansas. Marcus served as an assistant professor in Agriculture Education at Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University. He left Oklahoma State and entered the private industry of agriculture as a Research Scientist for Ciba-Geigy Corporation in product development. He served in the capacity of product development for fifteen years before accepting a promotion to serve as technical advisor to the Sales Department in Turf and Ornamentals. Since his retirement, he moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma and has been active in teaching Cherokee History Courses, was a member of the Trail of Tears Association, the Tulsa County Cherokee Organization and the Osage Kihekah-Steh Club. He was also active in efforts to restore the Saline Courthouse near Rose, Oklahoma.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Chris, of the home; daughter and Son-in-Law, Ron and Laura Launius of Greenville, SC; son and Daughter-in-Law, Marc and Patty Juby of Skiatook, OK; eight grandchildren: Joshua Alan Clark of Seattle, Washington, Katlyn Reneeʼ Clark, Bryce Marcus and Colby Ray Juby of Skiatook, Oklahoma, David "Trey" Smedley of Columbia, SC, Kara Lynn, Blake Eric, and Brian Andrew Launius of Greenville, SC. And sisters, Juanita Donaldson, Clare Whiteley and brother, Bill Juby all of Sperry, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Edith Juby, siblings: Marcella Elder, John Juby, Virgil Juby, Georgia (Jo) Anglen, Annabelle Anglen, Lee Roy (Son) Juby, Garrett (Babe) Juby, Genie Hanlin, James (Boch) Juby, Charles (Cowboy) Juby, Melva Juby, Thurman Jackie Juby, and baby boy Juby.
